Where to find it?
The Slovenia Beer Fountain is situated in the town of Žalec in central Slovenia. It lies in the valley of the lower course of the Savinja River west of Celje. Žalec is known as the “Valley of Green Gold” due to its long history of hop cultivation.
Design
The fountain itself is designed in the shape of a hop flower, paying homage to the region’s agricultural heritage. It consists of several beer taps mounted on a circular platform, allowing visitors to sample a variety of locally brewed beers.
How the beer fountain works: You need to purchase the beer mug which you can take home with you. The specially designed mug for the Žalec Beer Fountain by Slovenian designer Oskar Kogoj, plus 6 beer refills is total 11 euros.
Beer Selection
The fountain typically offers a selection of several different Slovenian craft beers, including both traditional and innovative varieties. Visitors can purchase a special commemorative mug and then use it to pour themselves a sample of beer from the fountain (costs 11 euros)
