Ljubljana: Plečnik’s Kiosk Came to Life Again!

Another of Plečnik’s creations came to life in its original form, namely Plečnik’s kiosk on Vegova Street.

Located between NUK and Križanke Open-Air Theatre, a kiosk designed by a master Slovene architect Jože Plečnik (1872 – 1957) will serve as a space for culture and architecture lovers, with a rich accompanying program, too.

Plečnik’s kiosk on Vegova Street will be primarily used for promotion of the Slovenian architecture by the OUTSIDER Architecture Magazine.

Plečnik created many and varied open space arrangements in Ljubljana. From bridges, embankments, squares, parks to gardens, his architectural masterpieces still represent important elements of Ljubljana’s cultural image. During some of the last renovations of Plečnik’s works, the renovation of his kiosk from 1930 was also completed.

Tromostovje – Triple Bridge Ljubljana was designed by Jože Plečnik.

Besides the one on Vegova Street there are two more kiosk’s in Ljubljana on display that are bearing Plečnik’s signature.

One is in located near Tromostovje – Triple Ljubljana Bridges and is fully operating selling newspapers, magazines and tobacco. The other one is left standing alone not far from Ljubljana Trubarjeva Street – on Hrvatski Trg Square, nearby to Vodmat.
