Slovenian post issues a new postage stamp with Idrija lace motif by Tina Koder Grajzar
In Slovenia, lacemaking is a traditional handicraft with a rich heritage that has allowed it to continue developing up to the present day. Home to the famous Slovenian bobbin lace is a town of Idrija in the west of the country.
TINA KODER GRAJZAR – THE ORIGINAL IDRIJA LACE MAKER
Growing up in Idrija in a family of designers, there was a very slim chance for lace-artist Tina Koder Grajzar not to fall in love with lace making. Enchanted with lace, she started to create modern, original lace creations already at very early age.
Today, she frequently showcases her designs at independent and group showcases and fashion shows in Slovenia and abroad; her designs are also a part of regular lace collection of the City Museum of Idrija.
Tina’s lace necklace featured on the postal stamp
At the end of January 2021, Slovenian Post (Pošta Slovenije) issued a new postage stamp from the series ‘Modern Artisans of Slovenia’ (Sodobni rokodelci Slovenije).
The central motif of the stamp is a detail of the central part of the lace necklace, which Tina designed a few years ago.
The stamp and issue cover was designed by the renowned Slovenian visual communications designer Pavla Bonča.
