Pension Pr’ Betel in Planina pod Golico – Homemade Slovenian Food in the Mountains

Hidden high above Jesenice, in the beautiful mountain village of Planina pod Golico, Pr’ Betel is one of those places that feels like a reward at the end of the journey.
And getting there really is part of the experience. The road winds its way up the mountain almost to its end, where only a handful of houses remain. During our visit, the drive was made a little more adventurous by roadworks and tree-felling along the way. Fortunately, once you arrive, Pr’ Betel has its own parking spaces in the courtyard and in front of the house.
Come for the Mountains, Stay for the Food
We came here to eat, and it was absolutely worth the trip and hike.

The food at Pr’ Betel is homemade, hearty and genuinely local – exactly the kind of meal you hope to find at a traditional Slovenian kmečki turizem (tourist farm). Nothing overly complicated or pretentious, just delicious home cooking served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We started with their gobova juha – mushroom soup, which was absolutely delicious.

The setting makes it even better. Planina pod Golico is surrounded by mountains, forests and meadows, and Pr’ Betel feels wonderfully peaceful and far removed from busy tourist spots.

You Can Stay Overnight
Pr’ Betel isn’t only a place for lunch or dinner. They also offer rooms, which makes it a great base if you want to spend more time exploring the surrounding mountains.
Guests who stay here often mention the warm hospitality, peaceful nights and excellent home-cooked meals – and after our own experience with the food, we can certainly understand why.

Pr’ Betel is the kind of place we love discovering when travelling around Slovenia: a little off the beaten path, surrounded by beautiful nature and serving proper homemade food.
They serve delicious “ajdovi žganci” (buckwheat dumplings).

Take your time, enjoy the scenery and come hungry.
