Restaurant and Rooms Šurc in Rateče near Kranjska Gora: A Taste of Traditional Slovenia

Just a few kilometres from Kranjska Gora, the beautiful Alpine village of Rateče feels wonderfully peaceful and authentic. Surrounded by mountains and traditional houses, it is the kind of place that immediately makes you slow down.

During our visit, we stayed and had dinner at Šurc, a traditional Slovenian inn with accommodation. The atmosphere is warm, simple and unmistakably local – exactly what you hope to find in a small Alpine village.

Dinner was the highlight of our stay. Šurc is all about traditional Slovenian food, generous portions and familiar flavours, served in a cosy, well-kept setting. It is the kind of restaurant where you come hungry and leave very satisfied.

The food was tasty!

The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, providing everything you need for a relaxed overnight stay. Breakfast is included, making Šurc a convenient base for exploring Rateče, Kranjska Gora and the surrounding Julian Alps.

And Rateče itself? Absolutely charming. Its mountain views, traditional Alpine character and peaceful atmosphere make it well worth discovering – whether you stop for lunch, stay overnight or simply wander through the village.
