What Is It Like to Stay In Former Tito’s Villa at Lake Bled? Have a LOOK Inside! (PHOTOS)
Nestled amidst the serene landscape of Bled, Slovenia, lies the historic gem known as Tito’s Villa.
Staying in Tito’s Villa offers a unique blend of history, luxury, and natural beauty.
Tito’s summer residence
Formerly the summer residence of Josip Broz Tito, the iconic leader of Yugoslavia, this elegant villa has been meticulously preserved, offering guests a glimpse into a bygone era of political grandeur and splendour.
Besides exceptional views of Bled Island and Bled Castle, today, the four-star hotel named Vila Bled embodies the era when some of the most famous men of that time shaped the destiny of their nations while indulging in hedonistic pleasures like dinners with caviar and champagne. From Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie, Soviet Union leader Nikita Khrushchev, Jordanian King Hussein, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, Japanese Emperor Akihito to North Korean President Kim Il Sung, the grandfather of today’s North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
HISTORIC RUMOR: Due to his enthusiasm for the furniture in the villa, Kim Il Sung even took the bed with him to North Korea among other things.
Champagne, cigars, and a million-dollar view
After the end of the Second World War, Tito’s villas and residences sprouted up like mushrooms throughout the entire former Yugoslavia, serving various purposes – from hunting lodges to seaside retreats. Naturally, the stunning Slovenian gem, Bled, found its place on the list of desired Tito’s protocol locations.
Timeless elegance
Approaching the villa, one is immediately struck by its stately façade, framed by lush gardens and overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Bled. Stepping through its ornate doors, guests are welcomed into a world of timeless elegance and refined luxury.
The interiors of Tito’s Villa exude a sense of grandeur, with opulent furnishings, intricate detailing, and an air of dignified charm.
In every detail, from its historic charm to its idyllic setting, staying in Tito’s Villa in Bled is an experience that transcends the ordinary.
Each room tells a story of its own
Guests can choose from a selection of lavishly appointed suites, each offering modern amenities while retaining the villa’s classic allure.
Villa Bled is adorned with historical artifacts, vintage décor, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Guests can also stay in a presidential suite (not the suites on the photos), spanning over 100 square meters, which belonged to Tito for many years. Due to security requirements at the time, the once Tito’s suite lacks a balcony or terrace, but its window offers one of the most exceptional views of Lake Bled.
To this day, the original wooden frame of the bed on which Tito rested after his abdominal surgery in 1951 remains in the suite.
Tito’s desk in the lobby
Additionally, there is Tito’s former office, where his original writing desk, telephone, and desk lamp are still present. One of the original desks is also located on the ground floor of the hotel, equipped with a computer, something Tito certainly did not use in his time.
Guests can embark on leisurely strolls along the lakeshore, take to the water in traditional pletna boats, or hike up to the iconic Bled Castle for panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside.

For those seeking culinary delights, Tito’s Villa boasts a gourmet restaurant, where local delicacies are served with an elegant twist.
Whether savouring fresh-caught fish or indulging in decadent desserts infused with Slovenian flavours, here every meal is a culinary journey to remember.
As evening falls, guests can gather on the villa’s expansive terrace, sipping cocktails as the sun sets over the shimmering waters of Lake Bled. Against this picturesque backdrop, conversations flow freely, and memories are made to last a lifetime.
Famous guests
In addition to prominent political figures of the 20th century who visited Tito, the guestbook of Villa Bled records several famous names. Among them is “Beatle” Paul McCartney, who spent one night here with his then-wife Heather Mills. At his departure, the legendary Liverpool bassist sang to the hotel’s staff. Prince Charles (now the King of Great Britain) is said to have stayed here, as well as singer Sting and Italian actress Sophia Loren.
